About

There are two branches of Create Soc, Creative Writing and Crafting:
-
Creative Writing
The creative writing group meets to dissect, discuss and create literature. We work with poems, short stories, stories that are a bit longer, and longer stories still. Each week has its very own theme which provides inspiration for the workshop, and we try to span a wide range of interests. Previous workshops have been focusing on topics like character development, plot, dialogue, descriptive writing and imagery. If you have an idea or subject that you would like us to cover please let us know!
There are many talented writers in our group, who work in all aspects of writing from poetry to fantasy and together we discuss all the issues relavent to writing with the aim of gaining insight, knowledge and inspiration.
For our weekly updates and more information about forthcoming workshops, join our mailing list using the fancy box on the right.

Crafting
In our craft meetings we mend broken stuff, reinvent old clothes, scribble with felt tip pens, and sew things together. It’s an opportunity to share ideas, ask for advice and get inspiration, or just turn up and muck around with the materials from our stash of crafty supplies, which houses an ever-growing collection of buttons, fabrics, papers, pens, pencils, etc. We heartily welcome themes or ideas for forthcoming meetings and previous workshops have included things like puppet-making, kite-making, card-making (that’s a lot of making) and clothing customisation (different from making, see). Alternatively you can bring along a current project you’re working on for some advice/kudos. We sometimes hold socials where we get together outside of the regular meetings and do something fun with a crafty edge, like pumpkin carving at Hallowe’en!
